“The Global Automotive & Mobility Innovation Challenge or GAMIC is designed to identify innovative companies, cultivate new technologies and solutions, and hasten their adoption into the automotive industry” said David Stout, SAE International board of directors and GAMIC co-chair. “Founded as a collaboration between SAE and the MI Innovation Alliance, GAMIC has been exceedingly beneficial to our entrant companies in both funding and commercialization.   GAMIC provides over $300,000 of in-kind commercialization services and cash awards to winners.”

Quarter-finals application is free with simple F6S application and upload of short business plan and initial presentation. ​Just a few of GAMIC-alumni success stories include:

  • 2008 1st-year winner EmiSense Technologies, now a unit of CoorsTek Sensors, which has secured nealry $10 million in funding for clean technologies to digitally measure oxygen and nitrous-oxide with better cost and accuracy, and whose products are going into vehicle production for model year 2017
  • 2014 6th-year winner Covaron Advanced Materials, which has raised $2 million in funding and obtained several partners for their cold ceramic molding products
  • 2015 7th-year winner SiNode Systems, which has been awarded $4 million to develop advanced battery materials for electric vehicles
