GAMIC Challenge
Each fall, innovators from Michigan and around the globe apply to compete for top awards in one of four Innovation Categories, for a total of over $300,000 in cash and in-kind commercialization services:
- Category One: Vehicle Electrification, V2X, Advanced Mobility
- Category Two: Advanced Materials, Sensors, Actuators, Manufacturing Processes
- Category Three: Infotainment, Auto Consumer / Value-Add, Value Chain / Business Model, Security
- Category Four: New High Value / Disruptive Technology Innovations
This year, applicants were selected to compete in-person or remotely at one of three Regional Quarter-finals held in the Fall of 2016. These events were held in Metro Detroit, Michigan (Oct 25); Waterloo, Ontario, Canada (Nov 3); and Silicon Valley, California (Nov 10). Semi-finals were held at NextEnergy in Detroit on February 23, 2017 to select this year’s Finalists.
Challenge Finals were held in Detroit at the WCX’17 SAE World Congress Learning Lab on April 4. The Award Winners will present again in the Learning Lab on April 6.
